Programing For Site Location Numbers/6 digit dial

Hello - We will be setting up 9 locations with 1 main 8710 and 8500's and Modular Messaging at all locations. We would like to use site number like 21, 22, 23 etc, this would menan we have 6 digit dial. Our DID ranges are all over the place. By using a site idenfier this would elminate the need to ensure we do not have duplicate DID at other locations, is this correct? Where on the Avaya forms do you assign the site ID number? Maybe I'm way off base here, but I beleive this is something that can be done? Any suggestions. Thanks! Site Id XX then XXXX 4 digit extesnion. By using a site ID number do you loose a number in dialing plan?
 
it sounds like it would just be easier to let the vendor send you the 7 digit number & just use the 7 digit dialing.
 
I have multiple locations connected in a QSig/DCS environment and moved to a 5 digit dial plan. The first digit is what I call a steering digit. 3-XXXX is one site 8-XXXX is the second 2-XXXX and 4-XXXX. The steering digits were the last digit in the local NXX. So the site whose number was for example 222-123-xxxx extension were 3-XXXX. So on and so forth. Works well for me and I don't need to worry about extension overlap.

This is great on what page did you program the steering digit and does it cause any conflist with burning up numbers on your dial plan? Doesnt sound like it does. Thanks Again! We will have a Qsig/DCS enviroment.
 
Depending on your software version you steer via AAR and Uniform dial plan (UDP). In the uniform dial plan records you can route digits in tens and hundreds. 3-4xxx or 3xxxx etc. You also have to set your dial plan to 5 digit extensions. In the UDP table set 3xxxx to aar code 103 for example. Then in aar analysis set 103 to route 73 all examples. Route 73 is the route to the 3 switch sending all digits. The 3 switch will also have to be changed to 5 digit and so goes all switches in your DCS/QSIG network. Once set up I have very little maintance. I strongly suggest you pay Avaya to convert you. They have tools to change the extensions on the fly(Provision). Also dont forget Voice mail and any Call Accounting apps you may have. My conversion effort on 4 switches took about one day give or take.
