I am trying to install a Symantec product on my server. Specifically, this is an update to Anti-Virus for our Domino server. When I double-click the setup icon, I get hourglass for about 5 seconds, then it dissapears. The installation program does not load at all. If I go to task mgr, I see the process.

This is NT4 SP6a.

I have recently reinstalled SP6a to no avail. This install does NOT open a wow session, just setup.exe and runsetup.exe. This failure to install does not generate an entry in the Event Viewer either.

Has anyone seens something like this before?

We had a problem similar to this before in regards to installing a java runtime on this server, however, that installation ran through wowexec which was causing the failure.

What is the update? Have you checked your temporary directories to make sure it just didn't decompress somewhere?

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

This is a version update. I am thinking it may have something to do with permissions on the registry. That will be my next step.

There is nothing in the temp directory.

This appears to be a problem with certain versions of InstallShield. No resolution yet.
