Program Installation Errors

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm trying to run an install program that I've run many times before, but on this particular computer I receive the following error:
"c:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications."

Any ideas? Is there an install feature that I can turn off? I've installed this program many times on Windows XP machines.
