I have 2 programs made with Clppier 5.2e. Both have run for many years. They have run on my XP-HOME machine with no problems. But I just now intalled the SP-2 upgrade. I now get a windows error box:

16 bit MS-Dos Subsystem
The NTVDM CPU has encoutered an unhandled exception. Choose 'Close' to terminmate......

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Not helpful but, my Clipper 5.2e is OK on Home and Pro with no problems at all when I SP2'ed them. If you have access to the source, is there anything that tries to access the hardware directly?

Do a search on NTVDM in this forum.
You'll find at least 4 threads that cover that issue...
Perhaps there's a solution to the problem for you!

Thanks for your ideas.

Ian, the only direct acces to hardware would of been printing, but the prog would not even load. Rob, the forums I found did not address the problem I had.

I tried a hand full of suggestions about CONFIG.NT and AUTOEVEC.NT, but did not find an answer. Then I found a 3rd app that I had made that still worked. I found out I could recomplie it but not the 2 problem applications. The problem applications still used Exospace for memory mamgment in DOS. I recompiled without Exospace and the applications started working again. This may be helpfull to someone else in the future.

I now consider this problem solved.
