Processor upgrade

I currently have Merlin Magix 2.0. I've seen some pcmcia upgrade cards on some sites to version 2.1. I was wanting to know is this card going to have to occupy the slot all of the time? Or is this just used to flash the main card and can then be removed from the slot? Also, does anyone know if the Merlin Messaging 1.1 has a software upgrade available for it? I could really use the announcement features of the newer releases.

Card has to reside in the equipment all the time, otherwise will reset.
I THINK that you can upgrade your 1.1 toa 2.5, check the Avaya site.

The forced Upgrade card (orange) for the system is only in the system during the upgrade process then your backup card (white label)goes back in. The Messaging 1.1 CANNOT be upgraded to a 2 or a 2.5 BUT a 2 CAN be upgraded to a 2.5 via the appropriate upgrade card.
