Although my Win2000 Pro PC has an Athlon XP 2400+ processor, at startup it shows a 1700+ processor, and locks up a lot. A friend suggested that I change the clock speed in the CPU PnP settings [press DEL at startup, wait, go into CPU PnP Settings, change the clock speed to something else and save it], and sure enough one of the settings worked, but then Windows wouldn't start up. I just got this blue screen saying something about removing new hardware or running a system diagnostic. I then tried the third of the three available settings (100/100, 133/133 and 100/133) but this caused the computer to run so slowly it took three crashes and ten minutes just to change the setting back again! Can anybody help??
