in the task manager processes tab, the window is grey, i cant read list, or view processes!

i upgraded to SP2 hoping this would rewrite whatever was corrupt, however it did not!

in safe mode it works fine, so it seems like some type of registry hack! computer did have some virus and some spy ware but its all cleaned out from what i can tell!

any ideas?

I should note that Service Pack 2 is an unlikely source to fix persistent Windows issues.

Clean the issues, then install SP2.

In this case, SP2 is not a factor.

Here is the path for disabling Task Manager. Just in case.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Value Name: DisableTaskMgr
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = disable Task Manager)

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Double check the Spyware angle.
