Procedure cache and sp recompile

I had a stored proc which called another sp. We changed the second sp and had a problem that a loop got stuck. I deleted the sp and then recreated the 2nd sp with the same code and problem gone. If you have an sp which calls a 2nd sp, does the executed plan stay in procedure cache

theoritically yes, it must. however practically a lot of things like server memory etc will affect the caching policy of the server...

It seems we had a problem, but when I dropped the 2nd sp and then recreated it and the problem went away
 
hmm, then i guess we need to wait and see if the error happens again...
