i'm trying to connect to TTY0 using hyper terminal, but the best i get is garbled characters, i have tested all possible settings and also i have checked the TTY settings and they are the following:
ADAN TTY 0
TTY_TYPE SDI
CAB 00
CARD 00
PORT 0
DES MANTENIMIENTO
FLOW NO
USER MTC SCH BUG
TTYLOG 0
BANR YES
also, i commonly use a terminal screen connected to that port to do the admin job but i want to switch to computer 'cause is more flexible.

the PABX details are Nortel Meridian 1 version 2111 release 22 issue 46+ (i heard someone say that this is a version you heard about but never see)

rls is mute on that problem.. dyperterm is my last choice, if back into a corner i would rather use a dumb term.. when you get trash, usually your on the right protocol but the wronge speed.. in you case that is a switch setting. try 12 24 and 96 at both 8 none and 1 or 7 even and 1.. i have three terms in the switchroom, all ports are set to the default 8 none and 1 at 9600.. but two of the two terms only work at 7 evena and 1

I actually have a Dumb Terminal, i just want to change to HyperTerm because i need to connect to the PABX remotely and is easier if i connect to the server and from there use HyperTrm.
so... you're saying that if i get trash i should stick to the protocol and change speeds and parity... and that brings another question... there is a swith in the SSC that have speeds as well... should i change that speed too?

I'VE HAD VERY LITTLE LUCK CONNECTING TO A MERIDAIN WITH HYPER TERMINAL OFF A TTY PORT. I SET UP TTY'S FOR ACD ONGOING STATUS REPORT AND IT'S NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE TO KEEP PLAYING WITH IT. GAVE UP AND INSTALLED PROCOMM ON ALL THE PC'S

Had Hyperterm and it did work calling other Meridian PBX'x connected with SEBII modems. Now use ProComm. When opening Hyperterm to build a new session all I would do is enter a site name at the first screen and then a phone number at the second screen. Everything else I left at the default settings and it worked fine. Good luck!

The switch settings on the front of the SSC are for TTY 0. If you change it, that will be your speed setting for that TTY. TTY 1 and 2 are done is software, and usually are 2400 by default.

If you can connect to TTY 0, you know your speed, so then just make changes on the other options like John said. Normally, I have always had good luck using N81(None 8 and 1) or M71(Mark 7 and 1).

Hope this helps,

Scott M.
