Hi everybody,

I have a strange problem with the Windows XP Home Task Bar. When I turn the computer on Windows runs correctly but when I try to access to the Task Bar to click Start button the mouse pointer is a watch and I can't click the button.

I thought that this is due to Windows doesn't finish to run all the applications in the Task Bar. But after a long time the situation is the same. Anyone have any idea why I can't access to the Start button and the rest of the Task Bar?

Thank you.

See if you have access to the Start Button in Safe Mode, or by using the Windows Key and then a combination of the Tab, Arrows and Enter Key to control your machine.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
