Okay I've seen a few things about problems with sp3. Here's my problem.

I have two sets of users, people in the office and vpn users. The people in the office so far have not had any problems connecting so far. The people dialing in via vpn are getting no where.

Friday night I installed sp3 and the rollup patch for it as well.

what could be causing these issues when it was working just fine before?

thanks,
Martin

yes.

interesting note I thought. is that on the DHCP relay agent list, I have two interfaces. Internal Connection and my physical card connection (Local Area Connection)

the internal side says 40 requests received and 0 requests discarded, while the Local Area Connection has 36 received and 23 discarded.

maybe this means something to you and maybe it doesn't.

the short side of this answer is Yes. I have dhcp relay on.

Try setting up the relay on the local area connection..keep us posted. you will know that is your problem if the following occurs. when u vpn u cannot unc path to a share on the server using the server name..and u can unc path with the ip address of the server

Thanks, PAUL

Okay I'm pretty sure this is what you mean, if you right click on the name while inside the mmc dhcp relay agent screen. the check box is already checked to say relay dhcp packets and default (4) values for hop count and boot threshold

I found that my problem with a remote machine was that the LMHOSTS file had an entry in it for server to a 10.0.x.x address. so that solved my issue there. However I would still like to see my remote machines to be able to browse the whole network. by name since everyone uses dhcp.

I can ping the physical address but I can't get it to use names...

any clues?

I still don't understand if u set up your dhcp relay? just right click it and choose new interface..then choose local area connection with the default of 4 hops..also u won't be able to browse if your remote hosts have the same private sub net and ip as the server network

Thanks, PAUL
