would like to put interactive swf with alpha over a html page with navigation. is it possible to interact with the swf and navigate on a html page at the same time?

Since this tutorial was created before many browsers did support the transparent mode (wmode), you need to add an embed tag in the html, so that it'll work in other browsers than IE.
