Problems with Encapsulation dot1Q

Hi!
I tried to configure my router to use subinterfaces on f0/0.

This is my command line:
RTA(config)#interface f0/0.1
RTA(config)#encapsulation dot1Q 2

Error, the router doesn´t buy my commandline...
Is thers something I have to do first??

Anyone know why?

Do you have IP Plus software running??

To be honest I don´t know.
How do I check that
And if I don`t have it, how do I install it?

do a "sh ver" and you'll need to look at the IOS image, usually the IP plus has a "is" in it
