Hi there,
I posted this already but I think in the wrong area as a FAQ using the bottom of one of the threads.

We currently have an Exchange server 5.5(SP4) running on Win NT (SP6) and have recently acquired a new server to move current Exchange server to and have setup it up as a win2000 (member server).

I understand from the docs I have been reading that one way is to install exchange on the new server and join an existing site. Our Exchange 5.5 cd is an upgrade and during the installation of 5.0 and selecting to 'Join existing site' the message 'Enter the full path of the Microsoft Exchange Server connector disk'. According to the Technet this is a seperate piece of software we need to purchase from MS.

So decided to try installing a new site with new organisation name, upgrade to 5.5 and install sp4 and then use 'Move Server Wizard' to move the new organisation to the existing site but during the 'Enabling Replication Capability' part of the wizard the message 'An internal error during directory replication, stop and then restart the directory service. Then try directory replication again.' After much searching the internet and technet I have not been successful.

My last resort is backup and restore to new server.

I would be grateful for any advice anyone has.

Cheers

Til
