Hello All,

Just sort of a general question here. I run 98SE. Some folks I email office stuff back and forth, usually .doc or .pub use XP. They have to 'dummy down' the file so I can read it. This may not be true for .doc but I know its true for .pub Anyway, generally speaking when a file is saved from XP to a version that 98SE computers can read, are there more problems with formatting, pagination, character spacing, spacing between lines, font issues, just your run of the mill stuff that don't seem to work correctly when ever I have to open up one of these files. Any insight is welcome, short of telling me to get with the times (new roman) and get XP.

It depends, maybe you can supply a little more detail that will help us answer your question.

Start with these two:

what product are you using for e-mail.

What format are you using for outgoing mail, HTML, rich text or plain text?

Any other facts or examples you can think of.

Ok here is more info. We send stuff as attachments through our email. The attachments are always in the origional file format, in this case, .doc and .pub. The stuff is sent back and forth through aol since we all have aol accounts. I don't know what aol does with the stuff in transit. They do not get zipped. Maybe its better to zip the file first?
