When clicking on the mdb icon to start whatever Access DB, I always get this error output:

"The command line you used to start Microsoft Access contains an option that Microsoft Access doesn't recoginze.

Exit and restart Microsoft Access using valid command-line options"

Is this some sort of Absolute Path error in the regedit that I can fix?

thanks

-Chris

edit the file association and check if the %1 is enclosed in double quotes, it should be like this

...\msacess.exe "%1"

edit the file association for the mdb file and check if the %1 is enclosed in double quotes, it should be like this

...\msacess.exe "%1"

Thanks for the tip.

I tried doing that under the Explorer /View/Options, but no luck.

I guess I'll ask to have MS Office uninstalled and then reinstalled.

thanks again

Are you running a .lnk to open access? If you're gettin that error, the link has some criteria involved such as a /excl or the %1, mentioned above. Have you tried simply removing all extensions and making the link properties end at msaccess.exe?

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE"

Or is the link opening up a certain database with criteria? For instance I have a link that does this in the
shortcut.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "U:\Loss Control Dbases\E-Mail DB LC.mdb" /excl

Ofcourse if your access is in diff dir the shortcut path will be a bit diff.
This opens up a database using my computer's client, and a databse off of the network with exlusive access. It took me awhile to get that /excl extention working well... and I recieved that annoying error a few times in the process. Just make sure your shortcut syntax is correct. Or you can always try your re-install... but if it's a link that's messin on ya and not the access proram your reinstal might not work.
Goodluck.

I've removed any .lnk and %1 in the path to start MSAccess.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE"

Most the DBs that I work with have no criteria, but they are on my private network directory and it also outputs this error:

MSAccess can't fine the database file 'Foo.mdb.'

Make sure you entered the correct path and file name

any ideas or is a reinstall in store?

thanks

-Chris
