Problems Labeling Tapes

I'm actually having two problems:

1) Sometimes when I try to label a tape, it goes through the entire process but ends up lableling the tape using some number sequence. Each time it does this, the number increases by one. I'm trying to label the tapes with a specific name so I'll know where to go if I need to restore.

2) Sometimes when I try to label a tape, I get all the way through and the tape shows up as unlabeled. Is that because the tape has gone bad?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Matt

Where's the beef"?

1. You describe the problem in your words (no facts about NW version, OS, tape drive etc.). What do you mean by "some number sequence"? An example would be much buch better.

In general you may assign any name - the label templates are just there for NetWorker in case it needs to label a media automatically by itself.

2. If this is the case, there should be more info available. With this message alone the only possible answer is: "Yes this could be the case".
