I recently began working at a company and basically had to walk into their network blind. They have two servers. There were two new systems that needed to be joined, but for some reason they won't. The other weird thing is that a few computers can log onto the domain, and browse the network, but can't be pinged from anywhere. Users can log on with the two new systems as well, but can't browse any of the workstations, or servers in the domain. I don't know what's goin on, and if there are any tips anyone could offer, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

1) What are the OS's of all?
2) The machines that won't join, what are the error messages if any?
3) The machines that can't be pinged, do they have anykind of special security, such as Zone Alarm?
Need mroe info, thanks.

The server is running SBS2000, and the workstations are running XP Pro. There are no special security programs or utilities running on any of the workstations (not yet at least). I brought in a laptop today, and it joined the domain fine, which is weird. I tried accessing the computer from a different room, thinking that perhaps the switch that room was hooked up to was giving the problems, but I have the same issues in another room too. The only message I get is that I don't have the appropriate permissions to access it from the new machines. But I joined them with the adminstrator account, and I even went in a checked all the setting in Active Directory on the server, the computers have the same permissions as every other system on the network. Thanks for any help!

I discovered that the problem was in the workstations themselves. I had to reinstall the operating systems becuase apparently something was corrupted when shipped from the factory. Thanks for the help though!

Thanks for sharing the solution. To many people find the awnser and leave it hanging.
