I am currently running 2 servers, one with win 2k and one with MS small business server 2k. I have created a domain with the Small business server, and am trying to join it with the win 2k machine by running dcpromo.

When doing this I get the error "domain does not exist or could not be contacted"

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Paul.

try to see if your DNS is working properly,
mostly it's caused by DNS.

A work around to the connectivity problem is usually to set a default gateway from the want to be dc to the forest root dc.

All sorted now, DNS was one problem. The main problem was that the box I was adding still thought it was on a domain, I couldn't get rid of everything completely so I did a quick reinstall of w2k.

Thanks for the help,
Paul.
