I'm trying to install Integration Services on SQL Server 2005 (to get backup working through maintenance plan), but I get an error-message:
--------------------------------------------------------
Failed to install and configure assemblies C:\Program Files\
Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Tasks\Microsoft.SQLServer.MSMQTask.dll in the COM+ catalog
Error: -2147467259
Error message: Unspecified error
Error description: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component
----------------------------------------------------------

anyone know what might cause this? anyone got this one when installing Integration Services?

What edition of SQL 2005 are you trying to install from and what edition do you have on your PC?

running SQL Server 2005 standard edition on the server. of course trying to install from the medium containing SQL Server 2005 std ed. files.

Hmm. Standard allows basic SSIS, so I'm not sure what's going on. Are you sure your COM components aren't corrupted or missing?
