I have my Novell Netware 6 server up and running. I have now connected a workstation to the server via a crossover cable. After installing the client to the workstation, I try to log in to the server tree but the workstation is not finding the tree.

What do I configure to make the client see the tree?

Also, I have 2 integrated NIC's on the workstation computer. Is it possible to have one NIC connecting to the Internet via DSL line, while the other NIC is connecting to the NetWare 6 Server?

I am not too familiar with Netware, could there be a utility in the server to solve the connectivity issue?

what protocols are installed
i'm hoping ip only
type config at server and it will show ip address bound
can the workstation ping it

yes to the nic question

I am running the server on pure ip, so the only protocol I have running is TCP/IP.

My IP address is 10.1.0.21 ... which is what I had set the server IP for during the server installation.

No i can not ping the server.

Do I need to get dhcp running in order to log onto the server? I wouldn't think so. If not, what should my static ip be set to? I have tried setting my IP address to 10.1.0.22, but I still cannot ping 10.1.0.21 (server).

Thx for the reply

forget my post above...

yes I can ping my server, but I still cannot see the tree

any suggestions?

Try using the IP address of the server instead of the server and tree name when you login. Doing that should generally work unless you have a cabling or other connectivity problem.

Well thanks for the replies, I have the problem resolved.

I ended up reinstalling the server and everything is working now.

I must have messed up the first install.
