problems autosignature in MSOutlook

can anyone provide an answer for why, or solution to, MSOutlook keeps deselecting the Use Word as my E-mail Editor option. this option seems to uncheck itself when problems arise. if it is MSWord that is unselecting this option, does anyone know of a way to force the setting to stick?
