Hi,

I am trying to add a printer that is connected to a jetdirect box.

I have added the entry in /etc/hosts.

I have then added a queue using the jetdirect option. I have passed the hostname which is held in /etc/hosts to the hostname from the add printer screen.

I stopped and restarted the spooler group and the queue is displaying READY. When I print 999 copies of a file to the print queue you can see the queue processing the request but nothing prints out.

I can ping & telnet to the jetdirect box.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the printer connected to the correct port on the jetdirect ?

Port1 on the jetdirect should be 9100 in your /etc/qconfig

Hi Alex,

The Jet direct unit we have has 3 ports and the printer I want to set-up is on port 2. Will this cause a problem ?

The /etc/qconfig looks like this :-

lexlaser:
device = hp@lexlaser
hp@lexlaser:
file = /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/dev/hp@lexlaser#hpJetDirect#9100
header = never
trailer = never
access = both
backend = /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piojetd lexlaser 9100

Any advise would be helpful.

Hi Antlers,

Spot on worked fine with port 9101.

Thanks a lot for your help.
