Hi. In my work I've never accessed our Octel Message System before. And now that I need to do something. I connected via hyperterminal, and the communication appears to be all right, because the Octel System send the message that shows the parameters, the ID and the name. But when ask for the password it doesn't let me to write the password, every key that I press is marked as an "@".
Can you tell what's goin on with this?
Thanks.

omargpe,

Have you set Emulation to Auto-detect in properties ?

It does sound as though it's not the right one.

lever.

Thanks lever, I already had set Emulation to Autodetect.

Here are all the configuration and settings, look in and tell me if something is incorrect:

Connect using: COM1
---Configuration
Bits per second 9600
Data bits 7
Parity None
Stop bits 1
Flow control Xon/Xoff
---Settings
Function, Arrow, and Ctrl Keys act as
*Terminal Keys
Emulation
*Auto detect
Backup key sends
*Ctrl+H
Telnet ID Terminal
*218077
Backscroll buffer lines
*500

In the ASCII setup I really don't know anything, so I didn't move it

And with these configuratin and settings the connection appear to be correct, because appears the next message:

-----System Software Release S.4.1.0-2 (01/26/01)-----
Copyright (c) 2001 Avaya, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
MON 02/10 16:36:07 2003 INERGY ID:218077 S/N:218077 PBX:74
(Modem Enabled) (Telnet enabled) Last Logon:03/15 17:13
@PASSWORD:

And after this every key I press, is marked as an "@", Except the ENTER key, but of course when I type the password then it marks that is an illegal password.

Please send and answer to this

Thanks Salu2

I normaly dial in or telnet if i'm on site.
I'm going to site Wednesday so I'll try out my settings and let you know.

COM 1
Speed 9600
Data bits - 7
Parity - even
Stop bits - 1

Flow Control - hardware

lever.

lever,

I try out with the settings you write and now the problem is that no any key typed is marked, not even as an "@".
Maybe I make a mistake since the beginning, in the connection or the cable, please could you tell me the way to do all this and I can confirm if I did it right.

Thanks Salu2

These are the settings i got from an Octel partner so they should work. I didn't get to try myself yet.

Could be a cable fault i guess, but i will definetly try today to get there.

Finally i got the pin outs !!!

Sorry it took so long. I use a DB9 to DB25 cable to connect. I guess you'd use something simlar ?

I've got 7-e-1 xon/xoff.

Pin out's
1-8 CD
2-3 TX
3-2 RX
4-20 DTR
5-7 GRD
6-6 DSR
7-4 RTS
8-5 CTS

lever.

lever,

The cable I use is the same...

But I prefered to do a new connection in the hyperterminal, and configure it as your parameters, and finally it worked well... so I'm starting to use it.

Thanks Salu2
