Greetings,

I am using a screensaver program that seems to occasionally act up, (or is this a Win98 thing?).

After the PC boots, there is a "minimized" button in the tray regarding the scnsvr. If I click on the button, nothing opens, No option window appears, I can't "close" the program, it just remains there.
Sometimes if I re-boot all is fine.

Certainly not a big deal, just sort of bugs me as what is happening.

TIA,

drk

Presumably, this screensaver has a name and because it's in the ysytem tray, it's also in the startup programme. Just uncheck it and it should go away. But I don't like the bit that says Sometimes if I re-boot all is fine.

START-RUN-type in MSCONFIG-hit ENTER-select STARTUP-uncheck the approriate wee beastie of a file name that's causing you all this grief-APPLY-REBOOT.

If you want to go a step further, you could remove the programme that produces the screensaver, and the registry entry for it. SENILE.COM found... Out Of Memory...

Please tell me if the answer I gave was helpful or a mere bus ride out. Without your feedback I won't know.

Crusty,
Sure, I can just remove the program from start-up, but then I don't have the use of the scrnsvr. Again, I just re-boot the PC and it usually operates as expected.

CBS,
I have been using NAV for years, it scans automatically and it hasn't reported any problems.

FYI
The only reason the "button" concerns me, is because it's taking up available space.

Thanks

Well, if that is the sreensavers behaviout, you will have to live with it, or get another one.
Alternatively, there are tools to hide systray icons as you wish. Check tucows or download.com for those The solution is out there. [morning]
