I had a problem with my xp home. It started asking my to activate my xp when i had already done so and it was not allowing me to activate windows. before i had restarted my windows(before the problem started after a windows update), i had done a system restore point. I booted up in safe mode and tried to restore my system restore point. It didnt work. i reinstalled my xp home butit didnt work. By the way it didnt allow me to start up xp it was asking while xp was logging on. So i got it sorted by microsoft. But when i tried to run system restore i kept on getting the message = in the window heading-"rstui.exe - entry point not found" and the main body says-"The procedure entry point RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dll"

How do i fox this? Do i have to download windows update again?

Thanks

Try running System Restore from:

. Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools

then try,

. Start, Help and Support, system restore

I got it to work.

with the cd in i went to start run and typed in rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf and located the file in the the d:\i386 folder and it worked

thanks anyway
