If I'm listening to a mp3 song through Winamp while surfing the net, the song would be disrupted or cracke whenever the mouse moves, i.e., left or right key of mouse is activated. The problem, it seems, occurs only recently. Anyone has experience with this problem? Please advise.

Many thanks.

My setup:

Asus A7V
SoundBlaster Live 5.1
Soho 10/100 Ethernet Adapter

The IRQ settings (SiSoft Sandra):

5 Creative SB Live! Series(WDM)
10 Macronix MX98715 Family Fast Ethernet Adapter (ACPI)
12 Standard PS/2 Port Mouse (!)

Video card uses AGP slot
Mouse uses USB connection

It seems to me that the IRQ 5 is reserved for the soundcard alone. Why there is interference in the sound?

Could be a faulty mouse sending some sort of interference signal through the system, can you get hold of another one to try.

Is it intermittent or does it happen pretty much all the time?

Try disabling all other sound outputs in the Volume mixer.
Just have the Main and Wave.

Perhaps you could be bumping the microphone when you move the mouse.

Hi,

How fast is your system ?

Is it possible that your system is being taxed to much
i.e. internet connection, winamp, browser, background apps, virus checkers, firewalls etc. and then on top of that your processor has to deal with the mouse.

try running winamp from a file on the disk and then try the mouse. Does it still do it ?.

If so you may have a problem with the mouse driver & Winamp software, try using a serial mouse and see if it still does it.
Any Help, Yes/No let me know

Regards

Thanks for your quick response.

Laffalot: Your diagnosis is excellent. Mine is Duron 750. 512 MB Ram, but couldn't cope with internet, audio editor program(S) opened at the same time. The problem still lingers but not as severe as before.

Many thanks.
