Problem with setting up SQL server

Dear all,
I have just got MS SQL Server 2K Developer Edition, but i have a huge problem making it to work. I think that it cant find the server to work. i dont know what the problem might b, i installed both server and client and i set it to window authentication.
Can you help me pls?

well, it seems like it is working now. All i had to do was to install Oracle on it, and even though i didnt know how to use Oracle, somehow it made MS's SQL to work! Prety cool, dont you think

This may have been due to selecting Windows Authentication during install.

I ran into this trouble a few weeks back. After about 5 reinstalls, installing with Mixed Mode set instead of Windows Authentication fixed the problem.
