i have a problem with service pack 3 in a windows 2000 professional.
When i execute sp3, it extract files without problems to a directory, but when automatically launch update.exe,it crash with a error and nothing more happen.

I had problems with it also. Acted funny. Someone told me I should have removed all the patches and such before installing it. I had checked the option to leave files so I could un-install, so I went back to sp2. Glen A. Johnson

yes,
but i uninstall sp2 previous to install sp3

I believe that you have to have SP2 installed before you can install SP3.

I believe what Glenn ment is to uninstall the patches that were released after the release of SP2 since all of those patches will be in the SP3 update.

I don't believe all of the patches in the SP2 update are in the SP3 update, so that is probably why you are having the problem.

Reinstall SP2 then install SP3.

If I am wrong in my thinking, hopefully someone will correct me.

I'f your'e having problems uninstalling sp3 and can't get back to sp2, try re-installing it. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson
