I am required to set a mapped drive assigned to N: for my workplace. Problem is, it keeps getting reassigned to Z: everytime I restart. My System Admin gave me a hint that it might be something to do with the Windows Scripting Host (WSH) though even she doesnt have the solution to this.

Do share your thoughs.

Many thanks.

Are you part of a domain? (eg, is the Z: mapping part of the user set up on the domain - I know you can do this on NT domain, presuming you can on 2k domain also). How are you doing the mapping? Are the N: and Z: mappings to the same location? Do any logon scripts run?

Yes it is part of a domain. Script runs at start up but it works with Win98. Is there any thing that I have to do server side to set this specially for XP? Yes, N: and Z: are pointing to the same location. Just that some inhouse applications specifically needs the files from the N: drive.

Thanks. Information is free....dont hog it!

I would suggest you start with checking what it is the logon script does. It may be part of it simply does not work in Win98 but will in XP or 2000.
Or, less of a chance, but check if there is no LASTDRIVE setting left in your boot config files, maybe from an upgrade.
