I am having a problem with my wife’s laptop computer that is kind of annoying.

My wife is using Juno dialup as her ISP but I don’t think that the problem has anything to do with them I have had this problem on other computers and other ISPs as well.

The problem is that when browsing it will just stop connecting to anything.
The actual connection is still active but any link that you click on comes up as not found.
This is happening quite often right now and is a pain.

If you switch to Internet Explored it is still the same.
The same thing happens if I connect through windows dialer not using the Juno software at all.

The only way to solve this is to disconnect and start over.

In the past when I have had this happen it eventually sorted itself out but I would like to know if anyone has an idea what is happening and if there is a way to rectify it.

I just plain don't get what is happening so I do't have a clue as to how to fix it.

Thanks for the help…

Well thats very interresting indeed. I have a satelite internet connection and also an adsl connection. I have exactly the same problems on both networks from different Ip's. You browse and suddenly the page stops, or it only loads half a page and then stops. If I check the satelite access everything is normal and 2 mhz access speed, same on adsl, most often it only happens if I access US websites. Also to get Netscape mail might take up to 15 minutes until I am on the mail section. Many times I also receive the server not found, try again error. After anything up to 7/8 tries I finally can lock on. All this only started to happen within the last 6 to 8 weeks or so. The connections are on different computers. After a resett of the modems everything goes back to normal for a time, it can take from 10 minutes to 6 hours untill the problems start again. Other users I checked with have the same or similar problems. It appears to be mainly with US websites. It does not matter which browser is used, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera. The results appear to be the same. I put a trace program on and found that apparently the data get intercepted and delayed in the Virgina area and then passed on after some time, this could easily cause the timeout and other problems.

Following on from Jurgen36's post, get a connection up to one of the sites with which you're having trouble. Run TRACERT on the URL, and print off or note down the node addresses. Next time the page fails or stops displaying, try pinging each node address and see how far you get.
