Problem with IIS 4 + SMTP

I have a server with NT 4 + IIS 4 + SMTP, when i send a e-mail with cdonts from a ASP page, the browse give me the error 800a0046 Permission denied.
I foun the Microsoft report when said what I would give rights of Write to the users IUSR_machine and WAM_machine, in inetpub\mailroot and the s subdirectories, even the error persist.
What happened ?

cdonts.dll is in the Winnt\System32 directory. Check permissions there.

Likely what you have is a simple permission issues. For troubleshooting permission issues use FILEMON and REGMON, available at

http://www.sysinternals.com

These tools will show you where user access is denied in both your folder structure as well as the registry.

Likely either IUSER cannot find the cdonts.dll or is unable to find it corresponding class in the registry. Use of the tools mentioned above should help you solve this issue.
