i am having a huge problem with premiere 7.0. when i try to play my project in the monitor to see what i've done, my video seems to skip a lot. It's hard to tell what i've done because clips seem to either lag, skip ahead, or start showing segments of the clip that i DELETED and shouldn't even be showing. It only does this in playback. It seems to show what I've actually done when it's stopped and i move the viewing bar to certain points.

My MAIN problem is that premiere will unexpectedly freeze on me when i try to play my work on the preview monitor or when i try to move the slide bar over the project with my mouse. When this happens, EVERYTHING freezes.. not even my mouse will move. I've left my computer on for hours after a freeze hoping the system would come out of it, but it never does. i have to restart my computer manually, which causes me to damage projects that can't be recovered. i have 160 gigs on my hard drive and 1 gig of ram running off an AMD 64 processor. My computer is more than capable of handeling this. I've downloaded the Service pack 2 for windows xp to try to resolve the issue, and that didn't work. I also changed my registry to turn off direc3d on Adobe, as it's been known to cause freezing issues, and i still have the problem.

it only does this on playback. does anyone know what i can do?
