Hello All:

I created a form from an Access table. I picked ID, Last Name, First Name. In the form design view, I also added other text boxes (4 in total), that contain numerical values.

Any time I changed the value say for the first person on the table list the Form View, other names in the form list carry this same value in the corresponding text box. I don't want this to happen. Instead, I want to be able to enter different values for each individual.

Thanks for helping.

In a continuous form, any unbound control stands for ALL records.

Hope This Helps, PH.

So, what do I do to make sure it does not stand for all records, instead for 1 individual record only?

Thanks

It must be bounded with a record's field.
Or don't use use continuous form.
Or put the textboxes in an header or footer section.

hello PH, hello every other person that can help me!

I don't know how to go about the first 2 points, please explain in detail if you can. I don't want to put the fields in the header or footer section.

1) How do I check if I am using a continous form and how can I change this?

2) How do I bind the text box to a record field?

I am new at Access and that's why I am asking all these "lame" questions.

Thanks for helping

Hello SharonMee!

When you design a form in Access it is opened in the single record modus. This means that your form will display one record from your table at a time. You can change to the next record set using either the navigation buttons on the form (Added automatically if you used the wizard to create the form) or by hitting page up/down.

If you want to display a list of your records you need to change the forms property to continuous. You do this by opening the form in the design view. Open the properties dialog by clicking anywhere on the form with the right mouse button and selecting properties in the context menu. In this dialog go to the Format tab, the second entry in the list "Standard view" must be changed to continuous.

In order to make your form easier to understand I would advise you to add the header and footer sections. Go to View in the main menu and select Header/Footer. If you haven't bound your form to a data set, do this by again going to the properties dialog, select the data tab, in the data origin dropdown select your table. Once you've done this the table list should appear. You can move the fields in your table to the form using drag and drop. The labels for each field can be, per cut and paste, placed in the header section of your form.
