Let's say our domain is abc. We have several contacts in ADUC that are not on our domain, but that we want to have @abc e-mail addresses. To accomplish this we setup contacts with their actual e-mail address, say test@aol.com. Then we setup distribution groups, say test@abc.com, and added the contact test@aol.com as a member of the distribution group. While not the cleanest, this setup has worked for over 2 years.

Suddenly this morning it's not working. I can see messages sent to @abc contacts sitting in the que, but they are not being forwarded to the "actual" addresses.

I tried to enumerate the messages and it just says "retry". And I'm not seeing errors in the Event Viewer.

Any ideas from the field?

Thanks

If your contacts are truly in the aol.com domain, then I would immediately suspect that you're seeing issues with aol's spam blocking initiatives. There have been numerous recent posts about this.

If the troubled e-mails are from other mail domains, let us know, and we can suggest how to troubleshoot.

aol is not the actual domain - it's Cox.
