HI, bit of history i have a
amd xp2100+ running at 55c
radeon 9700pro
768mb pc2700 ram
120gb ibm deskstar drive (previously 40gb hitachi)

I have a problem that mostly any file i download over 10mb seems to be partially corrupted in some way zip files or the like are mainly affected. but also when i run some programs like 3dmark i get unable to open (insert random file name) errors.

I changed my hd from 40gb to a 120gb deskstar and changed O/S from win2k to xp and back again (heard win2k sp3 caused corrupt downloads in some instances) and still no joy i still get these same errors so....also twice i had a problem a file could not be accessed due to some kind of i/o error

What are my options for narrowing down the problem could it be:

O/S - some kind of download settings wrongly configured or hd related?

Ram : bought both sticks at the same time, same brand and problem only started a couple months after i got them

cpu : Runs a little hot at 55c but no other problems.

Mobo : no discernable problems with it that i an find.
