Problem with Automatic Copying

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create an amortization schedule and am having some problems. Here is that data I am working with:

Payment
Frequency
12


Reduction in Total
Period Date Principal Interest Payment
1

The Payment frequency is in cell E8 and I want the period to automatically copy down a number greater by one each time until it is equal to the number in E8. The period starts in cell A12. Would anyone have some suggestions, I figured COUNTIF would get it done, but it hasn't worked for me. Thanks in advance.

assuming the value you want increased by 1 is in cell A1
the formula in A2 reads....

=if(a1>=$e$8,"",a1+1)
