I installed a new 8410D and line that had previously been an analog line. When I installed the phone I got battery sound on the handset but no dial tone and the test light is just flashing. I also can push the menu buttons and have items display on the screen....just no dial tone.
I took another 8410D from another location that I know worked and plugged it in and got the same thing. So i went downstairs and put the line on another port in the switch.....same thing........
And then when I took the phone from the other location back where it belonged and plugged it in I got the same thing....even though that phone had had no previous trouble. Could there be an EPROM or something in the phones that's getting corrupted.

Thanks TJ

Did the phone run through the optimization tests when you plugged it in? It should prompt you to press a key to begin optimization.

the phones will be fine ... is the phone that was working on the same line card as the one you originally had problems with....if so, try pulling the digital line card thats having the problem and re-seating it. - this will affect all users on that card.

failing that i would contact your maitainer as there might be more serious issues with the switch.

Have you tried working this straight off a port? Make a test jack and skip your cabling. I would almost bet it will work there.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

It may be a a cabling issue because I put the port on a different pair which goes to a different dept and it worked. Thanks everyone!
