I am currently building a database driven news site and am using MS Access 2000 as my test platform before eventually moving over SQL server to store my data.

I am trying to add a database search function to the site but can only pull out articles by using their db ID or the date. Does anyone know if it is possible to search on full-text fields in MS Access?

"Select * from table where column Like %strSearch%"

where strSearch is the string to be searched for. Live long and make your kids suffer..

Just FYI -

Once you move your app over to SQL Server, check out Full Text Indexing -- a service w/in SQL Server.

You can search extremely large amounts of data with very powerful search criteria in very small amounts of time, made possible by the Microsoft Search Service, which actually creates an index of all unique words w/in a table or a full database -- so you don't actually search the table(s), but a compacted index of the table -- hence much much faster response time.

Very very very cool feature of SQL Server.
