Hi there,

I'm completely new to this world ... I have Windows 2000 home, installed by the vendor when I got the machine. I would like to start learning ASP. Seems I need to install IIS first. From doc I have seen, I just need to go in Control Pannel, Add Remove programs and add the Internet Information Service. I do that but it doesn't install, can't find components and so on.

Could I have deleted components by mistake while installing something else or where they never on my PC to begin with, The 3 back up CDs given when I bought the PC are nebulous to me. Can I get the missing components from Microsoft? Which ones?

Once a program is installed for me I'm not to bad at using it, but before that point I'm particularly useless. Anyone got a clue what I should do?

Thx for any clue and your time.

Nath

THis should be enought after it req the 2000 install disk

After succesfull install you should open broeser and type

Hi George,

I did that but it doesn't find some components and the installation abort...

Thx for help

This is strange, maybe it has smething to do with the version you use, maybe doesnt have the IIS on the install package.
Does the Windows CD have these files?
Iis5_01.cab,Iis5_02.cab,Iis5_03.cab and Iis.dl_,Iis.in_,Iis.ms_? ________
George, M

I'll have a look this week-end. But that's precious information. If I know what the files names are like, I might find them and get them installed.

Last question, if I find these files, should I install them somewhere special?
