I have been having problems uninstalling Office 97 off a users PC. They did have Outlook 2000 SR-1 installed, which i have uninstalled successfully, but I really want to remove Office.

When i try to remove it from the Add/Remove Programs option it first prompts for the Office 97 CD 1 and then when i tell it that's already there, it tells me that it cannot find a file "rnscln97.opc". It then stops the uninstallation process. This file is not on the CD anywhere, and as far as i know shouldn't be. Anyone have any suggestions of how to get around this?

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

To answer my own question, I found a way of removing Office 97. It's a bit sneaky, but it appears to have worked with no side effects.

I installed Office 2003 as an upgrade - we use Office 2003 as standard on our network and that was why i wanted to get rid of Office 97 from this PC, it shouldn't have been there - and this installed OK and then uninstalled without a quarrel.

If anyone has any comments about this, or thinks i might have missed an important detail, then please tell me.

Good idea! Thanks for sharing the solution to your problem.
Cheers,

Sam
