Problem trying to repair registry with ChkReg.exe

I've downloaded the registry repair utility and created the floppy disks per the instructions. When I insert Disk #1 in the floppy drive and boot the machine, it attempts to read the diskette but then issues a DISK I/O error and the system stops.

The disks were formatted & created with the floppy drive on this machine and I can read them using the Windows Explorer program.

Any ideas as to what's happening here?

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
 
Rebuild the image on a different machine, or rebuild the image on the same machine. The process expects a flasless floppy, and writes a floppy image even if flawed media is presented without question.

In the alternative for the registry repair, adapt the advice from here, if possible:
But the issue is an image write to a floppy that is not perfect.
