Hi all,

I am desperatelly needing help on this issue.

One of our Windows 2000 servers has a Smart Array 5300 with three hard drives. Two of the hard drives went bad and the server shut down by it self.

I replaced the bad H.Ds, but now I am getting a message "Invalid Boot.ini file"; then it goes to another message " Windows could not start because the file ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrup"

I am trying to avoid re-installing the O.S as I will need to install additional applications.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jose.

since you were using three drives, i'm willing to bet that you were not using RAID 1. Sadly, if you were using RAID 2 or 5, you're pretty screwed.

Its times like this that you need a decent disaster recovery plan.

Yes I was using RAID 5. Well, I guess I do not have any other option but to re-install. Fortunatelly I have the data backup from last night.

Thanks.

Jose.

Yeah, you would have been okay with one HD failing but two is one too much.

I suggest reloading the server and restoring the backup for last night.
