I am working on moving a group of servers to a different location and leaving a file server and BDC here. I have setup DHCP on the BDC and got it working correctly. I am now trying to setup WINS on the BDC. When I start the WINS manager it is showing a address of 1.9.0.184 and that says cannot connect to WINS server. I have checked the BDC (10.2.151.40) and the WINS service is running. What am I doing wrong? I have a WINS setup on the other IP Segment 10.1.89.103.

remove that ip address and input the ip address of the wins server u wish to configure.
Wins manager will allow u to manage other WINS servers on the lan

When I setup the add the WINS server to the Server manager by name it puts in the incorrect ip address for that server. I can put the server in by IP address and it is still showing the incorrect information.

Go to the PDC and open up WINS manager.
WINS manager will show the IP address of the WINS server it is administrating.
In WINS manager on the PDC add a new WINS server IP address which should be the IP address of the BDC.
Can you now manage the BDC ok?
The WINS manager program is NOT the WINS service.. It is a tool to manage ANY WINS server on your lan (assuming you have permissions).
If you can manage the WINS service on your BDC, then go back to the BDC and try to manage the WINS service on the PDC with it...
