I am using the CDONTS.New mail example found in faq333-2962. I have a test server and a production server. The test server is wide open and the code that I have works fine on the test server. The prodcution server is not the case. Everytime I send a message from the prod server the message ends up in the BadMail folder in the Inetpub\mailroot folder. The error that appears in the messages is:

Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered: "This message is a delivery status notification that cannot be delivered.".

The specific error code was 0xC00402C7.

Anyone came across this before with a solution?

Make sure that whatever mail server your using as your SMTP relay is allowing mail relay. I have run into roblems lately (wit other apps/langs but ssame issue) where a lot of companies are locking down their mail servers way to hard, not allowing relay from other internal machines (in case of email viruses automailing themselves). If the email server your talking o does not allow relays then it will get dumped back into the bad mail folder.

The other thing to check would be the if your relaying through a local SMTP pseudo-server (in IIS) that you have allowe relay and so on. You may have to add some remote domains, a good bet would be *.com, *.net, *.edu, *.org, etc. as well as your intranet domain name.

I'm not an IIS expert or mail server expert, you may want to check in the forums for IIS or your spcific mail server, as this isn't an ASP problem but more of a config problem with one of those. It's possible that someone has a more detailed analysis in one of those forums or eve a FAQ.

Need an expensive ASP developer in the North Carolina area? Feel free to let me know.

Tarwn-

Thanks for your post. We checked to make sure that we had permission to relay through the main smtp server and we didn't. Granted the permission and it started working without any code changes.

Have a star on me and thanks again!
