problem saving word document to network drive 1

Hi all. I am trying to save a word document to a network drive and I keep geting the message. "check the drive to make sure the door is closed and it contains the correct disk or cd" any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The pc has novell client 3.40.0.0, windows 98, and office 97.

When I have problems saving to the network I try sving it locally on the hard disk first then trying to copy it to the location afterwards. This will indictae if its a file permissions problem.

One thing that happened to me on my old machine (windows 95 /office 97) was I couldn't save or open documents with long filenames from/to the network. I had to save them locally and copy them using explorer.

I believe this can happen when path and name are too long (>256 characters)

or UNC nameing problems, in which see the following:
