The process of saving a Excel spreadsheet results in one or more .tmp files being generated in the same folder. The following is an example of what is generated: "Gin Mill.xls~RF1aeb3d5.TMP". If anyone has experienced this problem please let me know.

Thanks for the help,

Tom

Have you checked the usual suspects such as file caching being set to off?

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF

"It's true, its damn true!"

No, I haven't checked file caching yet, I'll check it right away.

Thanks.

it is your rights

excel sucks at this - it needs all the rights under the sun as it creates the temp file while saving and then cannot delete it's self

also make sure the client is patched - there are always nwfs patches out for excel

Are you sure the .tmp files are generated by Excel itself?
As far as I know, Excel creates temporary files without extension, some random 8 character filename.
I would rather suspect a Virusscanner to interfere with Excel and the Novell client. Test it with your Virusscanner disabled.
If you don't need Oplocking, turn it off *.

As terry already mentioned, there are regular updates on the nwfs.sys of the novell client, so try 4.90sp2 with post sp2 fix 49psp2_nwfs_5.exe.

*Here's what you need to know about locking:

Alain
