problem running Quark 4.1 1

Can anyone help, I am at a total loss!

I recently created files in Illustrator 10, and this caused my system to crash totally (losing AOL, Quark 4.1, I-tunes, and Acrobat!). Having deleted the files, I have restored all my applications, but Quark Xpress will not work. The package initialises, but wil not move beyond the 'welcome' page (where all fonts are installed) - and the .exe file just hangs (not impacting on any other application.

I can find no error, and re-installing the package has made no difference - what am I not doing?

That sounds like something VERY serious. If simply creating a file in Illustrator 10 killed your entire system then I'd say there is something really messed up with your OS.

Did you reinstall your OS or just dump the damaged apps and reinstall them? If you did the latter it may be that some core system component is damaged.

My advice. Wipe the whole thing. Reformat the HDD and reinstall everything from the original install disks.
