Problem of keyboard and PC lock windows

Hi all, I have the following 2 questions. Would someone please help me?

1. if I type "\" button in keyboard, the notepad will show "#".... how can I rectify the key mapping?

2. is it possible to hide the "computer is locked" when I type ctrl-alt-del? My wallpaper is so beautiful and dont want that windows to shadow the wallpaper.

1. Go to control panel, both keyboard and regional and language and set to the correct settings for you. You probably have a UK keyboard (with a £ sign above the 3 key?) and the preferences set to US?
