I'm trying to install XP on several discs all with the same problem. I have tried home and pro. It gets stuck after when it makes you take out any floppies and restart, where it says "Setup is loading windows". It stays there and doesn't respond to anything. CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't even work. The computer meets microsoft's minimum requirements for XP pro. Here are any specs that may matter...

Processor : P4 clocked at 664Mhz
Memory: 256MB on one stick of DIMM
Hard Drive: A pathetic Western Digital 6GB
DVD Drive: 16x16x24 DVD+RW Drive
Video Card: 16MB S3 Trio 3d

Thanks in Advance

Use the check lists from these articles as a guide of the more common things to look at, such as bios needs updating, bios virus scanner running, or usb devices attached, or even faulty RAM.

The full install of XP is over 2GB so a 6GB drive will not have a lot of room for programs and files after the install.

HOW TO: Partition and Format a Hard Disk in Windows XP (Q313348)

Read the paragraph,
"How to Partition and Format Your Hard Disk by Using Windows XP Setup."

My bet is your Bios is out of date. Did you run the Compatibility program from the CD? Are you clean installing rather than the more risky upgrade install? You can clean install even with an upgrade version as long as you have a qualifying product (98 or ME CD etc.)to show XP's Setup during the install.
